Leg 038 The Great Loop: Stony Point to Hyde Park

I don't think that there could have been better weather as we continued motoring up the Hudson River to Hyde Park, NY. It was cool in the morning and then got down right warm in the afternoon with very little wind. Kate spent most of the day on the foredeck reading and sun bathing, though she did come down for a while to take over the controls as I lay out for a bit and took a nap. She's going to be an old hand at this in just a day or two. I'm still a little nervous about the locks on the Erie Canal, but I hear after 1 or 2 it becomes rote. Of course, I haven't told her that.

The hills as you roll up the river are just stunning. Green as could be, full of trees, and around every bend there is a new view. I am so glad we are doing this together. The mansions on each side are huge and are sprinkled in between some of the most picturesque scenery I have ever encountered. Some I'm going to bet are hundreds of years old. I wouldn't have imagined it but there are lighthouses that we passed every so often which I'm sure date back quite a ways too. I may spend some time researching them later tonight.

We are anchored out in a little cove right next to the Hyde Park Marina. We didn't really have any need to go in and decided to have dinner from the fish I caught recently. Coconut oil and a little cumin and they were just delicious. We just put them in foil on the grill in aluminum foil and wow, just a resounding wow.

All my cares seem miles away as we watched another movie on deck, another animation, of course. She is in showering and I am about to go over the charts. It's more of a formality for the log book than anything. Unless there are hazards, just staying to the right of center keeps you out of any trouble.

Holy Spirit, as my cares seem miles away, send the cares away from all I know as they put their trust in You, where ever they may be.
