SHE'S HERE! Kate got in early Sunday and we decided to anchor out and leave the marina. Which as it turned out was a great idea. The weather was clear and we basically spent the night under the watchful eye of the magnificent representation of our country's freedom, the Statue of Liberty. It was sad to look across to the new tower where the twin towers were and we spent a little time in prayer for our country and the still painful memory of that day. She was too young to remember, but as we finished, there were tears in her eyes. I just had a little dust in mine.

It was nice to catch up and to go through some old pictures when the girls were young and all the great times we had. But as the evening progressed the talk turned to our newest adventure. She is obviously very excited and was very interested in the maps and route and all the places we will pass by. I'm so glad we get to do this together. It is something that she will cherish as she grows older. Seeing someone in the summer of their life as mine is passing from the autumn to the winter, makes my heart real big. She even said 'angels on your pillow' as we said goodnight, which is something I used to say to them when they were toddlers. Again, just a little dust in my eyes.

We set off early under clear skies and I had to laugh as we passed under the George Washington Bridge when she said 'is this all the faster we are going to go?'. I laughed because that is exactly what I thought as I left Biscayne Bay in Miami. It seemed to take forever to get under that first bridge. But she grabbed a book and went out on the front deck and read. I could see her look up from time to time and just take a deep breath as the shore on both sides rolled by. It will take some time, but she is going to love this, I just know it. She'll learn to stop wanting to be somewhere else and enjoy where you are.

Made it up to Stony Point and anchored out. She wanted to go get dinner, so we took the dingy and found a nice little steakhouse just up the road. After eating we settled in and looked at tomorrow's charts and then watched How to Train Your Dragon. She and I have always loved animation and that's a good one to watch.

Thank you for safe travels Abba and thank you for blessing me with two gracious and lovely young ladies. This dust is really getting annoying.
