Today was a very short travel day. The weather was calm until the afternoon, but I had already dropped anchor. The wind picked up at that point and the anchors held me steady and its calmed back down for the evening. It's just absolutely lovely out at the moment. BBQ on deck, caught some fish, and now it's a movie night.
I went under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that spans from Maryland to Delaware. It was pretty impressive going under that monster. I know that up at the top of Lake Michigan there is a huge one too. I can't remember the name, but I'll look it up tonight.
I crossed over the Chesapeake to the Delaware side and am starting to prepare for the C & D Canal. I hear the currents can be quite strong so I am going to time this as best I can. I'm getting ready to check the charts and tides to make sure I go through at the optimum time. I also hear the marina in Delaware City is a little tricky getting into if the currents are strong. This should challenge me a bit if I choose to stay. But I may just get myself out of the C & D and then find some anchorage. I'm starting to get pretty good at this staying out most of the time. I rather enjoy it.
I have had the song 'The Lusty Month of May' on my mind all day. It's time to pull out Camelot and watch one of my all-time favorites.
Blessings to all I know as you traverse this thing we call life.
