Leg 016 The Great Loop: Richmond Island – North Myrtle Beach

Friday, April 25, 2014 – 8:30PM – Leg 16/Day 26 – 34.9 Miles

Started early again more because I was anxious to pull into a marina for a day. It was a beautiful day to start with light winds until the afternoon when things really started kicking up, there were easily gusts over 20 mph I am certain.

All day the Creedence Clearwater song 'Born on the Bayou' has been going through my noggin. These channels today just remind me of that song. There was very little traffic in the smaller channels and that was what today was, narrow channels running down through thick forests. Lots and lots of long straight channels.

The ocean has gotten closer again and was almost surprised when I came around one corner and had a wide open view out to sea. At that point, civilization started opening up near Myrtle Beach and northward.

I am tied up at Mariner Point Marina and the North Carolina border is just up the channel a few miles. I am going to spend a day doing lots, a then a day doing nothing but sightseeing. I may take a ride on the scooter out to the ocean to see if the pretty girls are coming out yet.

Here's to wishing all my loved ones a pleasant and peaceful night knowing that God is still on the throne.
