Tuesday, April 8, 2014 – 4 PM – Leg 6/Part 3/Day 9 of The Great Loop – 27.2 Miles
After 3 days, Leg 6 is finally finished. We arrived back to shore by noon and the kids got back on the road and off to their normal routines. It was a pleasant and grand time with them. It's really good to see Preston so happy and content. Suddenly, the feelings of loneliness are creeping up on me now they are gone.
After we got back and moored the boat, we took the dinghy to the marina. They drove me over to the Walmart in New Smyrna to restock the boat and to look for some anti-slip material for the gangway. They had some material that should work and installing it tomorrow sounds like a plan.
The destination of the leg was the Halifax Marina in Daytona Beach where a stay for two nights will make the time to get the boat all cleaned up and organized after the ocean outing. Some engine maintenance and hardware cleaning are also on the schedule.
This sunburn is turning brown (always does) and no more heat. The nights are still cool out upon the open water, but it was absolutely the most beautiful weather for sleeping. There is nothing like sleeping on the open ocean with the waves rocking and the window open with the wind blowing.
Lord, I am tired and a bit lonely in a good way and ask for restful peacefulness for all those I cherish. Keep them safe and ever in your hands.
