Snug Harbor Marina was purchased in 2002 by Ralph Farrell, a local building contractor and fisherman himself. He had a vision to transform the existing facility into a modern year round fishing marina. That meant starting from scratch. To date, the only thing not updated on site is the green mailbox at the entrance. The marina has evolved into 124 slips with water and electric as well as full length finger docks for easy boarding of your boat. The isles of the marina were dredged to 5' at the begining of last season. A ships store that takes a back seat to none is also located on site for all of your boating and fishing needs, including quality live, fresh or frozen bait. For your convenience we offer Honda, Evinrude and Yamaha motor products and parts. We are on schedule to offer bulk pricing starting this year on Evinrude and Yamaha 2 stroke oils.
A service department with Honda and Evinrude certified staff capable of all your service needs from an oil change to competitively offering re-powers is provided six days a week during the season and 5 days a week in the off-season. Our fuel dock offers Valvtect 89 octane mid-grade gasoline and Valvtect Bio Diesel as well as a pump out facility. The service department is also available to haul and launch your boat up to 30,000 lbs. using our forklift or travel lift six days a week year round. Snug Harbor has recently been named a dealer for Loadrite and 5 Starr Trailers. A maintained channel allows easy access to the Intra-Coastal Waterway which lies only two hundred yards from the marina with a protected haven for our boaters. There are four lighted fish cleaning stations located throughtout the marina for your convenience and plenty of parking as well. In addition, we offer a complete line of Mustang Survival Gear, ACR EPIRB's and PLB's and Revere Life Rafts to complete all of your safety needs.
Welcome to the Great Loop Advisor. This is my effort to live vicariously through the Internet. Being a work of fiction due to family responsiblities, I enter nightly into a realm of research, online images, tourist attraction websites, and navigition charting programs in an effort to define my eventual trek. Each leg is written up in the blog and the map can be searched by various criteria. Enjoy and leave a comment, rating, or suggest a new stop. This is a work in process for myself so that in a couple of years when I am free to begin my very own Great Loop Excursion, I will have an idea of what will be my eventual path. I recognize too much planning can ruin anything, and therefore I know that when I do leave, it will be with a heart of impromptu deviation. Fare Thee Well Fellow Loopers till we meet in reality.

Seeming to float above Biscayne Bay’s shallow seagrass beds, Stiltsville has a colorful history that dates back to the 1930s, when “Crawfish Eddie Walker” built the first shack on stilts above the water. Over the years more buildings were constructed, and the area took on an aura of mystery. Accessible only by water, the area was the place to see and be seen when visiting the winter resorts on nearby Miami Beach. Stories of illegal alcohol and gambling led to several police raids on the Bikini Club and Quarterdeck Club. At its peak in 1960, there were 27 structures on the flats, but hurricanes, fires and the ravages of being in such an exposed place made every building relatively short-lived.

On Police Memorial Day (May 15th) the Memorial hosts thousands of police officers, family survivors and dignitaries. The event is a somber reminder that every 57 hours, a police officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in America. The Police Museum houses two 501(c)(3) Nonprofit American law enforcement associations, The National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP) and the American Federation of Police and Concerned Citizens (AFP&CC). It’s a great beach for beginners, or those who simply enjoy a peaceful practice session. Matheson Hammock Park is a lovely scenic park with an unusual feature–a man-made atoll pool, which is flushed naturally with the tidal action of nearby Biscayne Bay. Its tranquil breeze-swept beach is a haven for families who enjoy its warm, safe waters and beautiful waterside views. Matheson is also a prime spot for Kite-Boarding. Its active breezes and calm shallow waters make launching easy.
The park also has a full-service marina, snack bar and restaurant built into an historic coral rock building, picnic pavilions and nature trails. Matheson also contains a sailing and power boat school

Dinner Key originally served as base of operations for Pan American Airway’s famed flying boats, the Clippers, and plenty of history has been retained in the area. The original Pan Am terminal building (next door to Dinner Key Marina) now serves as Miami City Hall, although it has retained its historic charm. Nearby is Villa Vizcaya, former home of International Harvester founder James Deering and now a public museum. A short walk from the marina lands you in the heart of Coconut Grove village, where you’ll find a fashionable retail and entertainment district, along with the world renowned CocoWalk.

Lady’s Island Marina is situated on Lady’s Island in the City of Beaufort, SC, just across the swing bridge from the historic downtown area. The marina is on Factory Creek, a tidally influenced deep-water side channel feeding into the ICW/Beaufort River. There are five docks containing over 70 wet slips including hundreds of feet of face dock. We have a 2500 sf building overlooking the marina that is used exclusively for our guests’ boat projects. The marina office is open seven days a week 8-5.
